Strong Suit Ready to Move Forward

Simon Callaghan is looking forward to Strong Suit making his U.S. debut in next Saturday’s Arcadia Stakes scheduled for one mile on turf.

The 5-year-old Rahy horse owned by Robert Levitt of Suffolk, England, who races as Qatar Racing Ltd., hasn’t run since last September in England, but has been working well and 32-year-old jockey Jamie Spencer, a champion in Britain and Ireland, is coming from across the pond to ride.

“We’ve had the horse about five months and given him time,” Callaghan said. “He’s been working very well and he’s a very good European import. He’s going to be pretty tough in this race.”

Two of Strong Suit’s wins overseas came under 131 and 132 pounds, high weights not uncommon in Europe.

“It’s pretty standard for back there,” Callaghan said. “The horse has won several Group 2’s already. He’s a good horse.”

Strong Suit has a 5-2-2 record from 15 starts, with earnings of $524,472.

Probable for the Arcadia: Akkadian, Klisz, Silentio, Strong Suit, Vagabond Shoes and Willyconker.
