Stress Fracture Sidelines Adios Charlie

Robert I. Sahn’s Grade 2 Jerome winner Adios Charlie will miss the remainder of 2011 with a stress fracture detected after his runner-up performance in the Grade 2 Dwyer at Belmont on July 2, trainer Stan Hough confirmed Friday.

“It’s similar to the injury he had last year, a stress fracture behind,” said Hough. “He needs 90 days off, so that will end his year. No surgery is needed.”

Adios Charlie had been aiming for a start in this Saturday’s Grade 2 Jim Dandy at Saratoga Race Course.

“With the big races coming up, the timing is unfortunate,” said Hough. “We’ll get him ready for next year.”
