Back in 2007, Tiz Wonderful looked like the perfect Kentucky Derby
prospect. He had speed, he had size and he had a stride that seemed to
stretch to the horizon. His trainer, Steve Asmussen, loved the colt. He
took pride in all those training titles he had won, but Asmussen
would also point out that he didn't train horses to win titles. He
trained horses so that he might have one like this, a horse such as
this Tiz Wonderful, to lead into the paddock at Churchill Downs on the
first Saturday in May.
