Stephanie's Kitten caught a game Stopshoppingmaria in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Churchill Downs on Friday.
Stopshoppingmaria, making her first start on turf for trainer Todd Pletcher, made her presence felt throughout and appeared home free in the lane but Stephanie's Kitten was moving sweetly along the inside and got the job done under John Velazquez.
The winner, a bay Kitten's Joy filly, is owned and bred by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. She completed her flat mile journey on good turf in 1:38.80 and paid $14.40. Wayne Catalano was the winning conditioner.
Sweet Cat finished 3rd and Up completed the superfecta for Aidan O'Brien.
