Stakes picks: Top choices for Remington's Springboard Mile card

Along with the featured $400,000 Springboard Mile, Remington Park will on Sunday offer five other stakes across a number of divisions, a strong close to the meet in Oklahoma. I've reasoned for my top choice in each of them:

Race 7: Useeit Stakes

State-breds, 8f, 6:56 p.m. ET

#7 Sydney Freeman (4-5) is 3-for-16 lifetime, and all three wins were at Remington Park, including a two turn state-bred stakes score in the slop on Oct. 19. She is back with state-bred rivals after a solid third behind Cosmic Burst in the Nov. 21 Zia Park Oaks.

Race 8: Jim Thorpe

OK-bred, 8f, 7:24 p.m. ET

The fractions should be honest, and #8 Daahar’s Success (12-1) might be able to capitalize from off the pace. The versatile gelding was too close to the pace in the slop at this course/distance on Nov. 30. Look for more patient handing under Richard Eramia in this spot.

Race 9: She’s All In

1 mile 70 yards, 7:52 p.m. ET

#8 Cosmic Burst (7-2) cruised in the local Trapeze Stakes late last year. She then won Oaklawn's Fantasy (G3) earlier this year but was a bit flat in a trio of starts after that. She found consistency in her last pair with a solid show finish in the Remington Park Oaks and a sharp victory in the Zia Park Oaks.

Race 10: Trapeze

8f, 8:22 p.m. ET

#6 Merada (5-2) exits back-to-back course/distance wins for Steve Asmussen. She projects another nice stalking trip under Ricardo Santana Jr. and might score again in her third start after a layoff.

Race 11: Springboard Mile

8f, 8:52 p.m. Et

#8 Bankit (3-1) showed the ability to rate and finish in a big stakes win vs. New York-breds in the Sleepy Hollow at this distance going a one-turn mile on Oct. 20. He shows two local works for this and probably needs to be patiently handled in the early going.

Race 12: Jeffrey A. Hawk Memorial

1 mile 70 yards, 9:23 p.m. ET

#7 Hence (3-1) is a tough customer from off the pace in these non-graded stakes events. He rolled to a big win in the local Governor’s Cup at a mile and an eighth Sept. 30.
