The stage is set for the Yushun Himba(known as the Japanese Oaks). The key prep is the Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas). The last two Oaks winners were not run in the Oka Sho, but seven of the last 10 winners came from the first filly classic. Gentildonna beat Verxina by a 1/2-length in a thrilling finish of the Oka Sho in an early April.
