Speed figures: These are last week's fastest stakes winners
Booth and American Promise earned last week's highest Brisnet Speed Rating, 105, for their wins in the Grade 3 Whitmore and the Virginia Derby, respectively.
Booth, a 4-year-old colt by Mitole, led the six-furlong Whitmore at every call to win by 2 1/4 lengths. He also got a 107 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest of the week. Erik Amussen was in the irons for his father, trainer Steve Asmussen.
With Nik Juarez riding, American Promise won the 1 1/8-mile Virginia Derby by 7 3/4 lengths, picking up 50 qualifying points for Kentucky Derby 2025 in the process. The Justify colt trained by D. Wayne Lukas also got a 95 Beyer Speed Figure for his effort.
