Next, who loves winning going long, did it again Friday in the Grade 2 Brooklyn and earned last week's highest speed figures in the process.

With Luan Machado riding at Aqueduct, the 6-year-old gelding cut back to 1 3/8 miles and won by 9 1/4 lengths for trainer William Cowans. He got a 109 Brisnet Speed Rating and the same Beyer Speed Figure for his performance, which was his fifth win in a row.

Next's win streak dates back to last year's Brooklyn, with the others coming at 1 1/2 miles or more.

Sweet Azteca was next on the list with a 106 Brisnet and Beyer for her win in the Great Lady M (G2) at Los Alamitos for trainer Michael McCarthy. John Velazquez piloted the 4-year-old Sharp Azteca filly to a five-length win in a track-record time of 1:14.33 for the 6 1/2 furlongs.

Sweet Azteca also won the Beholder Mile (G1) in March and has won four of five career starts.
