Speed figures: Komorebino Omoide leads fastest of week

Komorebino Omoide, stepping down from graded-stakes company Sturday, earned the highest Brisnet Speed Rating among stakes winners of last the week for his romp in the 1 1/16-mile Gus Fonner Stakes. He is a Japan-bred son of California Chrome who is owned and bred by Perry Martin, one of California Chrome's owners.

Sent off the 1-5 favorite of nine in Fonner Park's flagship race, Komorebino Omoide tracked the pace set by Tennessee Moon and made a bid on the far turn. He set sail down the lane under jockey Kevin Roman, crossing the wire 11 1/2 lengths clear of the late-running Drivehappy in second. That earned Komorebino Omoide a 103 Brisnet Speed Rating, the only triple-digit figure of the week.

The top stakes Beyer Speed Figure of the week, a 97, went to Forever After All for her nine-length victory in the Bewitch (G3), the closing-day feature Friday at Keeneland. She settled midpack through the early stages of the race, a 1 1/2-mile test over yielding turf. She made her bid on the far turn, left the field in her wake in upper stretch, and finished geared down.
