Trouble in Love posted Wednesday's highest Horse Racing Nation speed figure with a 124 performance at Churchill Downs. The 3-year-old filly by Munnings captured a 1 3/16-mile dirt allowance at 6-5 odds, securing her second career victory from six starts.

Sir Greylind earned a 112 HRN speed figure at Churchill Downs in a 1 1/16-mile optional-claiming allowance on dirt. The 4-year-old gelding by Speightster won at 9-5 odds, recording his fourth career win from nine starts.

Refuah and Takeitandrun tied for third with 112 HRN speed figures. Refuah completed a one-mile dirt allowance optional claimer at Aqueduct at 7-1 odds for his fifth career victory from 44 starts, and Takeitandrun won a one-mile dirt allowance at Horseshoe Indiana as the even-money favorite for his sixth career win from 23 starts.

Cat Spring earned a 105 HRN speed figure at Churchill Downs in her second career start. The 2-year-old filly by Upstart captured a one-mile turf maiden special weight at 5-2 odds in a dominant win by three lengths. She is out of Afternoon by Street Cry, and her top sibling Golden Afternoon by Goldencents has earned $694,000 and was Grade 1 placed.

Phenomenal Dream posted a 98 HRN figure at Horseshoe Indiana in his 26th career start. The 4-year-old gelding by Hard Spun won a 1 3/16-mile dirt maiden claimer at 6-5 odds in a dominant win by 13 lengths. His dam Sierra Squall by Grand Slam earned $40,000, and his top sibling Madeline's Grogu by Candy Ride has earned $108,000.

About HRN speed figures

HRN speed figures are AI-generated using HRN's proprietary machine-learning algorithms. Although they involve less human input than other speed figures, we see that as a plus as human adjustments often knock down surprisingly good performances to match expectations. HRN speed figures were launched in December 2024, and our expectation is also that the AI-generated speed figures will continuously get better over time.

The HRN speed figure scale goes from 1 to 160. Part of the reason for this higher scale is this helps us avoid assigning a speed figure of zero. For some products, in weaker races, half the field or more may get a speed figure of zero, which leads to inaccuracy and defeats the purpose of speed figures.

Because the HRN speed figures are based on machine learning, as we improve our models we can compute the numbers historically.
