Speech, Warrior's Charge highlight Wednesday's graded stakes work
Speech, who most recently won the 2020 Ashland (G1), had her first work since the victory on Wednesday, a five-furlong drill ahead of a possible appearance in September's Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. Warrior's Charge (Munnings) a Grade 3 winner (2020 Razorback) worked 4 furlongs in 51.0 at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the 46th fastest of 59 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going 4 furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed 4th in the Met Mile (G1) going 1 mile on the main track at Belmont Park on July 4 for trainer Brad Cox.
Speech (Mr Speaker) a Grade 1 winner (2020 Ashland) worked 5 furlongs in 59.6 at Del Mar on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of 16 works at the distance. This is her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed 1st in the Ashland (G1) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Keeneland on July 11 for trainer Michael McCarthy.
Harvey's Lil Goil (American Pharoah) a Grade 3 winner (2020 Regret) worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.2 at Saratoga on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of 7 works at the distance. Her previous work was 8 days ago going 4 furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed 1st in the Regret (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on June 27 for trainer Bill Mott. She is pointing to the Aug. 15 Alabama (G1) at Saratoga.
