Sovereignty remains on top in final NTRA Thoroughbred poll
Despite being sidelined for the Breeders' Cup Classic, Sovereignty retained the top spot in the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association's final poll of top Thoroughbreds.
The 3-year-old winner of the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and Grade 1 Travers received 24 first-place votes.
Japan-based Forever Young moved to the no. 2 spot from 19 after his win in the Classic., with Sierra Leone and Fierceness, second and third in the Classic, taking the 3 and 4 spots in the poll.
Mindframe, who was no. 3 in last week's poll, dropped out of the top 10 after his fifth-place finish in the Classic.
Ted Noffey moved to no. 7 from no. 14 after his win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, and Bentornato joined the top 20 after scoring in the Sprint.

The top Thoroughbred poll is conducted by the NTRA and concluded Tuesday, after the running of the Breeders' Cup.. Voting is conducted by national media. The poll represents horses competing for horse of the year.
