Sovereignty and Baeza, who finished first and third in both the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, will be rematched next weekend. They were among the five 3-year-old colts entered Sunday for the 62nd running of the Grade 2, $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga.

The two-turn, 1 1/8-mile race that is the traditional prep for the $1.25 million Travers (G1) on Aug. 23 will be the 10th race at 5:41 p.m. EDT on Saturday’s card. The first post is at 12:35 p.m.

Sovereignty, a Godolphin homebred by Into Mischief, has won four of his last five races, all graded stakes. The only exception was his runner-up result in the Florida Derby (G1). Júnior Alvarado will ride as usual for trainer Bill Mott and break from post 5.

Baeza never has finished out of the top three in any of his five main-track races. Still only a maiden winner, the McKinzie colt owned by CRK Stable and Grandview Equine finished second to Journalism in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) before his third-place finishes in his two Triple Crown races. Flavien Prat will ride again for trainer John Shirreffs and go from post 1.

Belmont Stakes fourth-place colt Hill Road will start from post 4, third-place Preakness finisher Sandman gets blinkers and will be in post 2, and Ohio Derby (G3) victor Mo Plex will break from post 3.

The small field for the Jim Dandy is not unusual. The race has not had more than six starters since 2013.
