Morphettville (Adelaide): Distinctive Homes Goodwood Stakes (Group 1) 6f, turf, 3yo+
THE awesome Black Caviar (Peter Moody/Luke Nolen) will head to Royal Ascot on the back of her 21st consecutive victory after scoring with the minimum of fuss at Morphettville on Saturday.
In front of a sell-out 30,000 crowd at the Adelaide track, the five-year-old barely needed to get out of a canter to win the Goodwood against a field of overmatched rivals.
"Armchair it was - never out of second gear," said jockey Luke Nolen. "She travelled strongly and I kept her happy.
"I'm not a punter - I don't worry about margins. As long as she bloody wins I don't care."
Dual world champion sprinter Black Caviar is already odds-on favourite for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She holds the Australasian record for consecutive victories at city tracks, and is now just one short of the overall record of 22 held by Miss Petty and Sava Jet at low-grade Queensland bush tracks.
On Saturday she broke alertly from a wide gate and made all in the A$500,000 event, drawing away as they turned in two furlongs out before being eased down and winning hard held.
