Pam and Marty Wygod’s Snapshot took advantage of a contested early pace to sweep to a 3 ¾-length victory in Wednesday’s $53,039 feature race for 3-year-olds and up going six furlongs at Churchill Downs.

Trained by Bill Mott and ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Snapshot raced fourth in the run down the backstretch as Don’t Put It Back led the field of six through a first quarter-mile in :21.71. Midway on the far turn, Captain Cherokee and Dryfly joined the leader as Desormeaux waited behind the trio.

After a :45.14 half-mile, Desormeaux swung four-wide at the head of the lane and drew off with ease. Snapshot, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Awesome Again out of the Bertrando mare Cajun Flash, covered the distance on a fast main track in 1:09.04.

The victory was worth $32,400 and increased Snapshot’s earnings to $220,015 with a record of 13-4-3-0.

Snapshot returned $5.60, $3.40 and $2.40. A Diehl, ridden by Julien Leparoux, rallied for second and returned $4.40 and $2.60 with Captain Cherokee finishing another three lengths back in third under Robby Albarado and returning $2.20 to show. Completing the field in order were Dryfly, Don’t Put It Back and Hail to Shiloh.
