Smile Happy, winner of two graded stakes and eighth in the 2022 Kentucky Derby for trainer Kenny McPeek, has been retired and is available for adoption.

As reported earlier by Paulick Report, the 5-year-old gelded son of Runhappy is at the Secretariat Center in Lexington, Ky. His adoption fee is listed as $4,500 but will increase with training, according to the center's website.

Smile Happy was 2-for-2 as a juvenile, winning his debut and then the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2). He was second in the Risen Star (G2) and Blue Grass (G1), then finished eighth in the Kentucky Derby.

In seven starts since the Derby, his only other win came in last year's Alysheba (G2). Smile Happy had three starts this year, most recently finishing seventh in the Ben Ali (G3).

He was bought for $185,000 as a yearling by Lucky Seven Stable, he compiled a record of 12: 4-2-1 and earnings of $1,060,580.
