Slider will scratch from Saturday’s Gotham due to sore foot
Slider will be scratched from Saturday’s Grade 3 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct due to a sore foot.
The scratch was reported in an X post from West Point Thoroughbreds, Slider’s co-owner. They own the son of Jimmy Creed in partnership with Hall Racing and Pearl Racing. Slider had been drawn into the 12 gate in the field of 13, and his defection will move outside-drawn Capital Idea one stall inward.
Slider has a record of 5: 2-1-1, with victories on both dirt and turf. The John Sadler trainee broke his maiden sprinting on the main track at Del Mar on Sept. 9, his second career start. He then led at every call to take the Speakeasy on the Santa Anita lawn Oct. 7.
After an off-the-board finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, he was laid off for two months. In his 3-year-old debut, he finished third behind Bob Baffert trainees Muth and Pilot Commander in the San Vicente (G2) at Santa Anita.
