Live Oak Plantation’s Slew’s Exchange grabbed command turning for home before opening up to a nearly two-length score in the $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon.

Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Slew’s Exchange stepped the 5 ½ furlongs over “good” turf in 1:03 2/5 and paid $5.80, $3.80 and $2.40.  Diamond d’Oro completed the $21.40 exacta and returned $5.40 to place and $3 to show.  It was another head back Sounds of the City, who paid $2.20 to show as the 7-5 favorite in the field of eight fillies and mares.

“We wanted to get her black type and I’m thrilled she was able to do that today,” said winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr.  “She tries so hard every time and today everything worked out right.  We’ll find another race like this one.  She’s a specialist at sprinting on the turf.”

A 4-year-old by Exchange Rate from the Seattle Slew mare Cool Slew, Slew’s Exchange has won 5 of her 12 outings.  She has now banked $188,317 for her connections.
