After surrendering the lead to 7-10 favorite Jet Blue Girl early in the stretch, Sizzling Gold re-rallied to win the $61,672 feature Friday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

In a race originally scheduled for turf but moved to Cushion Track due to wet weather, Sizzling Gold, the 9-1 fourth choice in a field of five, ended a six race losing streak with a nose decision over 14-1 outsider Madera Castana. Jet Blue Girl was a nose back in third. Gem of Soul and Cougarstown completed the order of finish. Belle Passe, Missdealornodeal and Kune Kune were scratched.

Owned and trained by George Lopez, Sizzling Gold was ridden by Agapito Delgadillo as she won for the 11th time in 35 starts. A 5-year-old daughter of Formal Gold and the Regal Intention mare Rosana’s Intention, Sizzling Gold has earned $222,487.

The victory was the fifth of 2012 for Sizzling Gold, who completed the six furlongs in 1:12.95. All of her wins this year have come since she was claimed for $8,000 Feb. 26.

After disposing of early leader Cougarstown, Sizzling Gold, who was bred in California by John D. Murphy, looked beaten when she was challenged along the inside by Jet Blue Girl, but was resurgent before holding off the late charge of Madera Castana.

A winner in half of her 12 races over synthetic surfaces, Sizzling Gold paid $21.60, $7.40 and $3. Madera Castana returned $12.40 and $3.80 while the show price on Jet Blue Girl was $2.10.
