Sire Invincible Spirit Shatters World Record

Irish stallion Invincible Spirit has shattered the world record mark for 2-year-old winners in a year. The 13-year-old son of Green Desert is represented by 42 juvenile winners across the Northern Hemisphere.

Invincible Spirit, an Irish racing champion who stands at the Irish National Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland, will stand for €60,000 in 2011.

“Naturally I have had extremely limited access to information on the stallion since going on leave, and only realized the new record-breaking feat on Dec. 26, scanning a list of winners and races which I got my hands on,” said Julie Lynch in a release. Lynch is the stallion nominations manager who has been on leave from the Irish National Stud since early January 2010.

Invincible Spirit, who held the former mark of 35 juvenile winners (set as a freshman sire in 2006), bettered the mark of 39 juvenile winners set by Chapel Royal   in 2008 and equaled by Wildcat Heir   in 2009. Both Chapel Royal and Wildcat Heir, who stand in Florida, were first-crop sires at the time.
