Veteran stallion Artie Schiller, who won the 2006 Breeders’ Cup Mile during his days on the racetrack, has remained in Australia this breeding season “due to his success as a sire and popularity in the Southern Hemisphere,” a WinStar Farm representative confirmed Wednesday.

The 17-year-old son of El Prado, our of the Majestic Light mare Hidden Light, was originally scheduled to stand at WinStar in Kentucky for $10,000 in 2018, same as his advertised fee last year.

Emirates Park Stud first bought into Artie Schiller in 2012, planning to stand him in Australia for $22,000. The fee has climbed to $33,000 this year, as he’ll stand at Aquis Farm in Hunter Valley.

Artie Schiller’s progeny include champion sprinter Flying Artie and Laser Hawk. Domestically, his We Miss Artie was a multiple graded stakes winner who ran in the 2014 Kentucky Derby.

Artie Schiller yearlings were purchased in 2017 by, among other trainers, Chris Waller, who conditions the great mare Winx.
