Significant Form earns second graded stakes win in Ballston Spa

Significant Form earned the biggest win of her career with a neck victory in Saturday's Grade 2, $400,000 Ballston Spa on Saturday at Saratoga.
Ridden by John Velazquez, Significant Form stalked the pace along the hedge and used a sustained stretch drive to prevail over Starship Jubilee. Indian Blessing checked in third.
Significant Form completed 1 1/16-miles in 1:41.39 and paid $16.60 to win.
"She's very good," said Velazquez, who was aboard for the first time. "It was special to be on her. They told me she was a nice horse, and they were right about it. The way she ran down the lane, she responded right away and showed great fight."
A 4-year-old daughter of Creative Cause, Significant Form won the seven-furlong Intercontinental Stakes (G3) at Belmont in June and was exiting a fifth-place finish in the 5 1/2-furlong Caress at Saratoga on July 21 for trainer Chad Brown. She has now won 4-of-11 starts with earnings in excess of $600,000.
"After
her seven-eighths race at Belmont [the Intercontinental], I screwed up running her too short five
and a half furlongs," Brown said. "It was poor judgment, but Peter and
Stephanie [Brant] really wanted to take a look at this race with both
of their horses [in] Fifty Five [fourth] and Significant Form."
Overall, Significant Form is now 4-1-0 from 11 starts, including stakes wins in the 2018 Memories of Silver and 2017's Miss Grillo (G3).
"We gave her some time off during the winter just to put some weight on," Brown said. "No physical problems, really."
The winner's purse of $220,000 lifted Significant Form's earnings to $694,865, and she returned $16.60 for a $2 win bet.
