Shotgun Gulch Storms Home in Madison

Shotgun Gulch stormed down the Keeneland stretch to beat post time favorite Amen Hallelujah by a head in Thursday's Grade 1 Vinery Maidson for fillies and mares.

Dr. Zic, the 2010 Maidson winner, carved out the splits in the seven furlong affair and held the advantage until Amen Hallelujah struck the front inside the final furlong.

Garrett Gomez had Shotgun Gulch in last after a half. She made a wide move on the turn and rumbled in the lane to get up in the nick of time. She completed her seven furlong journey in 1:24.14 and paid $25.40 to win for trainer C R Trout.

Dr. Zic just held the show over Evening Jewel and they were followed across the line by My Jen, Decelerator, Kitty in a Tizzy, Fascinatin' Rhythm, and Tremendamente Loca.
