Sharp drill for She Be Wild

Nancy Mazzoni’s 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner and Eclipse champion She Be Wild drilled a sharp half-mile in 47 1/5 Wednesday morning at Gulfstream Park for trainer Wayne Catalano, who has indicated that Sunday’s $150,000 Forward Gal Stakes (G2) at seven furlongs could be the spot for her 2010 debut.

The intriguing aspect of She Be Wild’s participation in the Forward Gal is that she will be making her first start ever on dirt after all five of her 2-year-old starts came on synthetic surfaces at Arlington Park, Keeneland and Santa Anita. Her only loss was a half-length second in the Alcibiades Stakes (G2) at Keeneland before the Breeders’ Cup.

Also prominent on the Gulfstream work tab Wednesday morning were Quantum Racing Team #1’s 5-year-old gelding Mambo Meister, who earned the ‘bullet’ for five furlongs in 58 3/5; and IEAH Stables and WinStar Farm’s 5-year-old Court Vision, timed five-eighths in 59 2/5.

Trainer Phil Gleaves has Mambo Meister nominated for both the $500,000 Donn Handicap (G1) and $300,000 Gulfstream Turf Handicap (G1) to be run on Sat., Feb. 6. Court Vision is trained by Rick Dutrow and is being pointed for the Gulfstream Turf, a race won last year by Kip Deville for IEAH and Dutrow.
