Sam-Son Farms’ Deceptive Vision justified her role as the choice in Friday’s Starlight Racing feature at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots when she got up for a half-length score in the last strides of the $47,000 allowance and $50,000 optional claiming event at a mile and 70 yards.

Never far back, the sophomore daughter of A. P. Indy rallied outside Donarra Thoroughbreds’ Irish Lute in the late stages to return $4.40, $2.80 and $2.40, tour the distance in 1:44.26 and increase her career earnings to $65,096 with her second victory in three lifetime starts.

Irish Lute inherited the lead when the pace-making Truly Majestic was pulled up approaching the lane, could not withstand the winner at the wire but was easily second best, paying $3 and $2.60.

Jack Smith III Thoroughbreds’ Kipling’s Joy returned $4.40 in the show spot and Truly Majestic set early splits of 23.46 and 47.18.
