Sharing out of Breeders' Cup; Motion to send 3 runners
Graham Motion's fantastic filly Sharing, who won last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, will not be part of his 2020 Breeders' Cup roster, the trainer confirmed on Monday.
Sharing has been dealing with a foot problem since her win in the Edgewood Stakes (G2) on Sep. 4 and has not worked since the race.
Motion has seen progress in recent weeks from his 3-year-old daughter of Speightstown, but the Breeders' Cup is approaching too quickly.
"Very happy with her progress, Motion said. "Hope to get her back on a breeze schedule next week. Could point to the Matriarch."
Sharing could potentially meet fellow Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Newspaperofrecord, who is also bypassing the Breeders' Cup, in Del Mar's Matriarch on Nov. 29.
With Sharing out, Motion confirmed that he will have three runners in this year's Breeders' Cup.
Mean Mary, who won three graded stakes in a row to start the year, will look to turn the tables on Rushing Fall, who defeated her in the Diana (G1), when they meet again in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
The added distance could prove key for this proven stayer to do just that.
Alda, who was second in Woodbine's Natalama (G1) after winning the Catch a Glimpse, will start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Alda will be joined in the race by Motion's Invincible Gal. The 2-year-old daughter of Invincible Spirit recently was second in Pimlico's Selima Stakes.
