A share of leading young sire Complexity, whose progeny include Group 2 winner Black Forza and Grade 3 victor Mo Plex, will be offered in the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale, which will be run Monday and Tuesday evenings.

The share of Complexity will be the first offering in the auction’s second session on Tuesday evening.

Complexity is off to a roaring start at stud with his first 2-year-olds to establish himself as current leading first-crop sire. He leads all first-crop sires in winners, black-type winners, black-type horses, graded-stakes winners and progeny earnings.

Complexity is also the current leading general sire of 2-year-olds. These include Mo Plex, winner of the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga on opening weekend, as well as Mensa, winner of the Victoria at Woodbine on July 19 after his record-setting purchase for $740,000 on Fasig-Tipton digital following his maiden win.

“What Complexity has accomplished with his first crop of 2-year-olds is simply remarkable,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “For him to not only be leading first-crop sire but also leading U.S. sire of 2-year-olds is an incredible feat.”

Following a four-length debut win at Saratoga at 2, Complexity went on to win the Champagne (G1) with a 95 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form, and a Ragozin figure of 8. He returned at 3 to win a Belmont allowance by 7 1/4 lengths, registering a sensational 3 Ragozin before going on to capture the Kelso Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park at 4. His time for the mile in the Kelso was 1:33.82, and his 110 Beyer was the third highest registered by any horse that year. He was trained throughout his career by Chad Brown.

“I don’t believe we’ve ever had an Airdrie stallion get off to a more promising start,” Airdrie president Bret Jones said. “Complexity was a brilliantly talented racehorse, and he has been making the case since his first foals hit the ground that he could be an equally successful sire.

“The word from Ocala was just so strong from the very beginning, and it has been wonderful to see that early promise evolve into these incredible results. To be not just the leading freshman sire in America but the leading overall sire of 2-year-olds is extraordinary, and we are further emboldened by the incredibly positive reports we continue to receive on his yet unraced 2-year-olds.”

The 103rd Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale will take place in the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Sessions will begin each day at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
