Fastest speed figures from 4th of July weekend stakes
There was plenty of discussion about whether Knicks Go had peaked after his Pegasus World Cup victory (G1) at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 23.
After winning four in a row in the Brad Cox barn, he ran a pair of disappointing fourth-place efforts in the Saudi Cup and Met Mile (G1). Many wondered whether that trip to Saudi Arabia took too much out of him and whether he was slowly reverting to his subpar form prior to entering the Brad Cox barn.

He proved there is still plenty left in the tank with an emphatic victory in the Cornhusker Stakes (G3) at Prairie Meadows on Friday night. He did what he was supposed to do by defeating an overmatched field, but speed figures from his victory prove that he is back to his top form and is at his best at two turns.
Knicks Go earned a 113 Beyer Speed Figure on Friday night, the highest figure of the year for any horse beyond one mile. TimeformUS was just as impressed with his victory, giving him a lofty 136 figure, according to a Twitter post from Craig Milkowski of TimeformUS.
Iowa Derby winner Stilleto Boy and Iowa Oaks (G3) winner Army Wife put up career-high figures in their stakes triumphs on Friday night as well.
While Knicks Go put forth a standout performance in the older handicap division, Mystic Guide and Happy Saver disappointed in what was supposed to be a match race between two of the division's best in Saturday's Suburban Handicap (G2).
Max Player relished the Belmont slop, defeating the two heavy favorites while running new career-top numbers.
Milkowski also said in another Twitter post that Max Player had a 123 TimeformUS Speed Figure in the Suburban and Wolfie's Dynaghost had a 120 in a Belmont allowance on Saturday.
