workouts for Tuesday, January 3

Today's Derby contender works featured a four furlong move from Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint hero Secret Circle. The undefeated Bob Baffert trainee will try two turns for the first time in the G3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Jan 7. He is expected to face G3 Delta Jackpot show finisher Longview Drive, along with sharp last out maiden winners Hierro and Out of Bounds.

#7 Secret Circle – 4f in :49.60 (19/30) at Santa Anita.

#29 One Sock Down – Breezed 4f in :48.90 (9/31) at Gulfstream Park.

Other Works:

Thursby breezed 5f in 1:02.14 (8/10) on turf at Palm Meadows Training Center. He disappointed in his first two outings on turf/synthetic and has been training steadily in South Florida since early December. Animal Kingdom's baby brother also runs for Team Valor/Motion.

One Sock Down
began his career with a good looking six furlong win at Gulfstream Park on Dec 8. The son of Dehere, trained by Edward Coletti Sr. and owned by Fantasy Lane Stable, could show up in the G3 Holy Bull Stakes at the Gulf on Jan 29.

Update: One Sock Down is entered in the 7th race at Gulfstream Park on Jan 7. The one mile optional claiming event also includes Todd Pletcher runners Da Vinci and Discreet Dancer.
