Secret Circle Prevails in BC Juvenile Sprint

Overwhelming post time favorite Secret Circle won the inaugural Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint at Churchill Downs but it was hardly a walk in the park.

Bob Baffert's fleet son of Eddington attended wickedly fast fractions of :20.96 and :44.55. He took over turning for home but the early fractions began to take their toll and he drifted out into the middle of the track late.

Overseas filly Shumoos unleashed a strong rally along the rail but Secret Circle had enough left to hold her safe.

The top two were well clear of show finisher Holdin Bullets.

Secret Circle stopped the clock in 1:10.52 and paid $2.80 to win. Rafael Bejarano rode the winner.

Runner-up Shumoos is expected to remain in the United States under the care of Ben Cecil.
