Seahenge, trained by Aidan O'Brien, was under consideration for the Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers along with stablemate Mendelssohn, but has been redirected to the Grade 1, $1 million Sword Dancer, according to the NYRA Racing Office.

For 3-year-olds and up at 1 ½ miles on the inner turf, the Sword Dancer will be part of the Travers Day undercard and is a "Win and You're In" event for the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf, which will run Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs.

It was also announced Ryan Moore will ride Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf and Group 2 UAE Derby winner
Mendelssohn

in the Travers.

Both sired by Scat Daddy, Seahenge and Mendelssohn came stateside for Kentucky Derby weekend at Churchill Downs and the Stars and Stripes Festival at Belmont Park.

Mendelssohn ran last in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby and improved to third in the Grade 3 Dwyer at Belmont, both times with Moore in the irons.

Seahenge, a Group 2 winner in England, ran seventh in the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile and fifth in the Dwyer. The Sword Dancer will mark his return to turf.

Entries for the Travers will be taken
Tuesday. The post position draw will begin at 6 p.m. ET. Entries for the rest of the Travers Day card will be taken on Wednesday.
