Saturday's Rainbow 6 Guaranteed at $100K
Gulfstream’s Rainbow Six wager will have a $100,000 guaranteed jackpot pool for Saturday’s 11-race card.
The popular 20-cent bet will challenge horseplayers to correctly select the winners of the day’s final six races, which on Saturday will be races 6 through 11 and include the Hal’s Hope (G3), Marshua’s River (G3), and Fort Lauderdale (G2). To take down the entire pool, one must possess the only ticket with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The Rainbow Six has become known for its big payouts. Last May, a bettor cashed in on a $6.7 million Rainbow Six ticket, a North American payoff record for Pick Six wagers. Most recently, the Rainbow Six was hit for $317,161.44 on January 3 with a ticket costing just $33.60.
Guaranteed pools will also be posted for the Pick 5 and Late Pick 4. The Pick 5, which includes the 7th through 11th races, will have a guaranteed jackpot pool of $50,000, while the Late Pick 4, consisting of races 8 through 11, will have a pool of $100,000. Both guarantees will also be in place for Sunday’s card.
Centrique Outclasses Foes in Friday Allowance
Miller Racing LLC’s Centrique made easy work of her competition Friday afternoon, taking the third race, a starter allowance for older fillies and mares, by 3 ½ lengths.
The 6-year-old mare, in her first start of 2015, led from start to finish in the one-mile contest under jockey Javier Castellano, despite being pressured throughout by Peace Sign Stables’ Voodoo Tales. At the top of the stretch, the multiple stakes-placed daughter of Malibu Moon shook free and drew off to a commanding victory, earning her second straight win. The mare previously took a Gulfstream allowance on Dec. 26 after making seven straight starts in stakes.
“She’s a very classy horse,” Castellano said. “The way she did it today, I was very impressed. She went to the lead and made it easy. They put a little pressure on her – the outside horse – all the way for the first quarter-mile, but she had the most class in the race. She’s been phenomenal lately in her last couple races, and she’s ready to move forward.”
Centrique, trained by Marty Wolfson, has now won five of nine starts at Gulfstream and is 12-7-6 lifetime from 39 starts, having hit the board in 64 percent of her races. The veteran runner, who has finished in the money in seven stakes, including the 2014 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2) at Laurel Park, has earned more than $450,000. She paid $3.00 to win.
