Saturday’s 8th race from Aqueduct (12-23-17) is the $125,000 Queens County Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track.
#3 Watershed (7-2) was my value top in the G3 Ben Ali on April 15 and this is a good spot for him to get back on the winning track. He dueled and was edged for 3rd in his first start in 4+ months vs. stakes foes at Laurel on Nov 11 and he should be fitter today. Look for him to revert to stalking tactics under Paco Lopez and he earned a good number in a romping victory in the slop at Gulfstream Park earlier this year (90% chance of rain at Aqueduct on Dec 23).
#9 Kurilov (3-1) set the pace and weakened to 4th in his flat mile US bow Nov 12 (first start in 6+ months). He won his only wet track start in Chile and ran well in longer races in that country as well. He fired a bullet for this Dec 3 and might move up for Castellano/Brown.
#8 Alex the Terror (12-1) earned a big number in an easy wire job win off the Pletcher claim Nov 29. He is 4-for-5 at Aqueduct and might not look back if able to shake loose early under Irad Ortiz Jr. He handles a wet track as well (8-3-1-0).
#4 Senior Investment (5-1) rallied to finish a clear 2nd at this course/distance in the G3 Discovery Nov 25. He will need to run faster in his first start vs. older.
#2 Doyouknowsomething (6-1) moves to the Diodoro barn (7-for-26 at AQU) and Arroyo shows a +ROI with this outfit. The 5-year-old gelding enters in decent form and romped in the Belmont Park slop Oct 9. He landed the show in all three local outings and hit the board in 5 of 7 starts at this distance.
The Plays:
#3 to win
Exacta 3/8-9
Exacta 8-9/3
Trifecta 3-8-9/2-3-4-8-9/2-3-4-8-9
