Saturday's 5th race from Santa Anita Park (10-28-17) is the $70,000 Comma To The Top Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track.
#3 IRISH FREEDOM (5-2) tried the Santa Anita Derby in just his third lifetime
start and ended up 8th that day for Bob Baffert. He returned 4+ months later
at Del Mar and romped in a two turn optional claimer Aug 13
(146 Today's Racing Digest Final Rating). He projects a stalking trip under Rafael Bejarano and can win
again if he continues to develop.
#4 Hoppertunity (9-5) makes his first
start since the March 25
Dubai World Cup and has run well fresh multiple times. He earned 147,
149, and 152 Final Ratings in the graded ranks in 2016-17 and will try to get
involved late under Flavien Prat (3-for-7 w/Bob Baffert).
#2 Top of the Game (6-1) captured all three of
his local routes (143 Final Ratings last 2) but has not run since Feb 10.
He is training okay for this and Vladimir Cerin shows a +ROI with this type of
layoff runner.
#1 The Lieutenant (20-1) might be able to sneak into the
exotics at a big number. He is 2-for-2 in dirt routes and earned 132 Final Ratings in both.
THE PLAYS:
#3 to win
Exacta 3/1-2-4
Exacta 1-2-4/3
