Saturday works: Rain waters the tab down to 12 graded winners
An overnight storm did not merely force the postponement of two turf stakes at Saratoga, it also wiped out most of the scheduled workouts there. Where there were 271 breezes Friday, there were only six Saturday, none from graded-stakes winners.
Elsewhere, Grade 3 Delaware Oaks winner Power Squeeze had the fastest of the four works covering five furlongs Saturday at Monmouth Park. Trainer Jorge Delgado has said the 3-year-old Union Rags filly owned by Lea Farms is a possible starter in the Cathryn Sophia in three weeks at Parx Racing, where she also may line up next month in the Cotillion (G1).
