Saturday works: Barnes leads graded winners on tab
Barnes breezed six furlongs in 1:12.8 at Santa Anita Park on Saturday morning ahead of his expected start in the Grade 1 Malibu on Friday. It was the fastest of nine works at the distance. This marked his second timed work in the last week.
The 3-year-old son of Into Mischief is trained by Bob Baffert.
Barnes won the Perryville (G3) at Keeneland on Oct. 18, posting a 97 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form. He placed third in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1) at Saratoga on Aug. 23. Earlier in the year, he captured the San Vicente (G2) at Santa Anita on Jan. 4. He has a career record of 7: 3-1-1 with earnings of $557,750 for owner Zedan Racing Stables.
