Saratoga weather: Rain remains in the forecast through the weekend

After a warm Wednesday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., rain is expected as the Belmont Stakes racing festival gears up Thursday.

The National Weather Service forecast called for a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, but otherwise it will be mostly sunny with a high near 89. A 40% chance of rain remained in the forecast for Thursday night

Rain looks likelier on Friday with a 70% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. The day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 79. The chance of precipitation remains at 70% Friday night.

And that 70 percent likelihood of rain continues into Saturday, when it again is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 72.

Rain moved into the forecast for Sunday, which is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 76 but with a 30% chance of precipitation.
