Morning Report with Rodriguez, McEntee and MyRacehorse
Horse Racing Nation's Andrew Capone will be hitting the backside all summer to talk to connections at Saratoga.
In this report, he visits trainer Rudy Rodriguez, assistant trainer Jake McEntee, and Harry D. Rice, the racing manager for MyRacehorse.
Rodriguez discusses the work he has put into stakes-placed 2-year-old Valenzan Day, who finished ninth in the Sanford (G3) on July 16 but tries for a better result in Saturday's Saratoga Special (G2). He also updates on plans for Grade 1-winning sprinter Bella Sofia.
McEntee, an assistant for trainer Kenny McPeek, introduces Editorial Comment. The Il Campione colt, a multiple group stakes winner in Argentina, makes his first North American start in Sunday's Mahony Stakes. McEntee explains some of the preparations for getting an imported horse ready to race in the U.S. He also provides an update on Belmont Derby (G1) winner Classic Causeway.
Rice discusses the experience of owning Thoroughbreds through MyRacehorse. Rice also discusses his family's background in the sport, the broad range of work he has done in horse racing and beyond before moving into his current position, and his day-to-day work gathering information and communicating with owners.
