Saratoga video: Get the scoop on future 2-year-old starters
Horse Racing Nation's Andrew Capone is hitting the backside this summer to talk to connections at Saratoga.
In the latest Morning Report, Andrew talks to trainers Dallas Stewart, Al Stall, Jr., Jason Barkley and Matthew O’Connor.
Stewart updates on Chess Chief, who came off a three-month layoff and finished sixth in an allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs in June. He'll run Thursday in the Alydar stakes, and Stewart says, "he likes it up here." See what's next for 2-year-old Sabra Tuff, a "really nice filly" who was second in the Debutante after winning her maiden on first try.
Al Stall Jr. says Masqueparade, third in the Jim Dandy (G2) last year, came back well off a layoff with two "great races" at Churchill Downs. He's "set up for a great effort" Thursday in the Alydar Stakes. Among his 2-year-olds, Gilcrease might run on Sunday – "he's acting pretty smart."
Jason Barkley brought five horses to Saratoga for opening weekend and got a couple of seconds. He discusses T D Dance, running in the Lure on Saturday, and Tapping Out a Tune, a promising 2-year-old.
Matthew O'Connor is confident about Clear Vision, whom he claimed at Belmont last year and has entered in an allowance optional claiming race Thursday. He also talks about his plans for building his stable and racing in New York.
