Saratoga video: Connections discuss upcoming stakes starters
Horse Racing Nation's Andrew Capone is hitting the backside this summer to talk to connections at Saratoga.
In the latest Morning Report, he speaks with trainer Horacio De Paz, Jason Blewitt of West Point Thoroughbreds and trainer Jorge Abreu.
De Paz talks about Be Your Best, a 2-year-old filly who is entered in the P.G. Johnson on Thursday. She broke her maiden by 3 1/4 lengths last out on her first try and is the 3-1 morning-line favorite.
West Point Thoroughbreds has Battle of Normandy – also a last-out debut winner – entered in Wednesday’s With Anticipation (G3). Blewitt says the colt has exceeded expectations and thinks the field for Wednesday’s race looks evenly matched.
Regarding superstar Flightline who runs Saturday, ”It’s beyond exciting having this horse.” Blewitt tells what he thinks of the draw for Saturday’s Pacific Classic (G1). West Point also has First Captain running in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) on Saturday. “Hopefully it’s a multiple Grade 1-winning afternoon for West Point Thoroughbreds.”
Abreu talks about Lachaise, another first-try maiden breaker who had been entered in the With Anticipation. He was at 5-1 on the morning line, but was scratched after the Wednesday morning interview.
