NYRA postpones Jaipur and Manhattan to Sunday due to rain

Due to heavy rain impacting the Saratoga Springs region, the New York Racing Association moved most of Saturday’s turf races to the main track at the Belmont Stakes racing festival at Saratoga. The two Grade 1 races, the Jaipur and the Manhattan, have been rescheduled to Sunday.

As a result of the inclement weather, turf races scheduled for race 3, race 6, race 10 and race 14 will be contested on the main track. The Wonder Again (G2), the sixth race, and the Pennine Ridge (G3), the 10th, will be downgraded by the American Graded Stakes Committee because they were taken off the grass.

The Jaipur, a win and you're in race for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, will be run as Sunday's 12th race. The Manhattan will also be run Sunday, as race 13. The Manhattan will be run at 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf instead of the originally planned 1 3/16 miles on the outer turf. NYRA plans to keep those on the grass, but all other turf races scheduled for Sunday including the Soaring Softly (G3) will be run on dirt.

Sunday’s closing day card of the Belmont Stakes racing festival is also slated to host the Soaring Softly (G3) as race 7 and the Jersey Girl as race 9. First post is 12:10 p.m. EDT. Admission gates will open to the public at 11 a.m. EDT.

All Saturday multi-race wagers that covered either the Jaipur or the Manhattan have been canceled. The two-day all turf Pick 5 which began on Friday's program will pay out to ALL on the final three legs scheduled for Saturday's card.
