Saratoga Yankee seeks Zia Park Derby

Saratoga Yankee’s name may belie the fact, by the 3-year-old is a Florida-bred and Saturday he will try to take the $150,000 Zia Park Derby at the race’s namesake New Mexico track.

A son of Yankee Gentleman, the colt was bred by Tim Ahearn and Robert Sullivan in Florida and has raced exclusively in the central, southwest area in his seven career starts for Kindred Thoroughbreds. The colt was bought for $27,000 out of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales August 2008 yearling sale.
