Making her U.S. debut Saturday afternoon, Go Go Boots escaped serious injury despite being vanned off the track after finishing fourth in the Grade 2, $500,000 Saratoga Oaks Invitational.

“Go Go Boots got hit by another horse and had a cut,” trainer Miguel Clément’s stable said in a post on X. He added there was “no fracture. Need to further assess possible soft-tissue damage but comfortable in her stall.”

Owned by TV chef Bobby Flay, the 3-year-old Night of Thunder filly was taken up by jockey José Ortiz just before the finish of the 1 3/16-mile turf race won by undefeated Laurelin. Her trip began when she was bumped coming out of the gate. Traveling next to last in the field of six, Go Go Boots moved forward into third place in deep stretch before Ortiz pulled hard on the reins just before the wire.

The Clément stable’s X post said Go Go Boots’s trip off the track in an equine ambulance “was precautionary.”

A winner in her first two races on synthetic tracks in her native England, Go Go Boots made three turf starts in group stakes during the spring. She finished third in the Musidora (G3) at York, last in the Epsom Oaks (G1) and fourth in the Ribblesdale (G2) at Royal Ascot. Formerly trained by John and Thady Gosden, she was moved to Clément’s barn early this summer.

Flay bought Go Go Boots for $247,740 at the May 2024 Arqana 2-year-old breeze-up in France. She is 6: 2-0-1 with earnings of $76,080.
