According to trainer Ingrid Mason, locally based multiple graded stakes-winning sophomore filly Sarah Sis will be pointed to the Grade I $500,000 Test Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 8. The daughter of Sharp Humor has won her last two – both stakes at Prairie Meadows, including the Grade III $200,000 Iowa Oaks – after an eased trip in the Grade I $1,000,000 Kentucky Oaks.
“I really think seven furlongs might be her best distance,” Mason said. “She’s doing really well right now and I think she is fast enough to run with those fillies. She can go forward or sit back and I think she’s still getting better.”
In seven starts, the Joe Ragsdale-owned charge has finished in the exacta in five, while earning $306,400. Her two runner-up finishes were both in stakes, including a photo-finish decision behind Eclipse Champion juvenile filly of 2014, Take Charge Brandi in the $100,000 Martha Washington Stakes in January at Oaklawn Park.
NOTTE D’ORO AND R GREAT ADVENTURE SCRATCH
FROM MILLION PREVIEW DAY
Twin Creeks Racing Stable’s Notte d’Oro has scratched from the Grade III $100,000 Modesty Handicap, according to Mike Stidham’s assistant trainer Hilary Pridham. The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro had drawn post nine in the 10-horse field and was assigned 15-1 morning-line odds. The Twin Creeks homebred will instead run today in the $100,000 Lady Canterbury at Canterbury Park for her connections in which she is the 7-2 morning-line second choice.
In other scratch-related news, Nancy Vanier and Frank and Jennifer Allen’s R. Great Adventure was scratched from the Grade III $100,000 Arlington Handicap. Trained by Brian Williamson, the son of Limehouse reportedly has a hoof issue keeping him from competing. The bay horse was sixth last out in the Grade II $200,000 Firecracker Stakes at Churchill Downs for his connections.
