Santiago Wins Four at Belmont

Jockey Victor Santiago captured Saturday’s third race at Belmont Park and closed out the afternoon with a longshot sweep of the late Pick 3, contributing to a $35,504.50 Pick 6 carryover into Sunday’s card.

In race 3, Santiago guided Dreamed Day ($5.50) to an easy gate-to-wire claiming score, finishing 6¾ lengths in front of the field. The 24-year-old Puerto Rican native found the winner’s circle again at the end of the day with Raffie’s Rose ($28.80) in race 8 and Midnight Billy ($13.80) in race 9, both turf allowances, and then piloted Lion Under Oath ($23.40) to break his maiden in race 10, also on the turf.

Santiago’s late afternoon success resulted in a $2,544 Pick 3 payout as well as $986 payout on four of six winners in the Pick 6, generating a $35,504.50 carryover into Sunday’s Pick 6 pool at Belmont.

Santiago won with four of his eight starters on Saturday’s card and has now ridden 13 winners at the Belmont Park Spring/Summer Meet, good for 10th place in the jockey standings.
