Bentorato, the second choice on the morning line for Thursday's Grade 1 Malibu at Santa Anita, was scratched from the race by trainer Jose D'Angelo.

Byron King of Daily Racing Form reported that the 3-year-old ridgling had a sore left foot, with D'Angelo saying he believed it was a minor setback. He was 3-1 on the morning line, the second choice behind Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan.

Senior Officer, an Into Mischief colt trained by Brad Cox, also was scratched from the Malibu. He was 5-1 on the morning line and would have been making his third career start.

Another scratch from the opening-day stakes was Tamara, the 3-year-old Beholder filly who was entered in the La Brea (G1), which would have been her second start off a one-year layoff. She was 8-1 on the morning line.

Trainer Richard Mandella told Paulick Report that she had a slight fever but that her bloodwork looked good. Mandella confirmed the scratch for Horse Racing Nation.

Also scratched from the La Brea were Ultimate Authority, 20-1 on the morning line and Cavalieri, 10-1.
