Breeders’ Cup Saturday Santa Anita Recap: Nov 5 (Winning Daily Double + Early Pick 3 Tickets)

Fast main track and firm turf course at Santa Anita Park. Two horses went virtually wire-to-wire on dirt (California Diamond, Drefong). If you were not close-up early, you were not getting it done on dirt. The winning turf course running styles were a downhill stalker (Kitten’s Cat), a patient runner down the hill (Fair Point), a closer at ten furlongs (Queen’s Trust), a downhill front runner (Obviously), a twelve furlong front runner (Highland Reel), and a patient runner at one mile (Tourist).

Mike Smith booted home two Breeders’ Cup winners (Finest City in the F&M Sprint and Arrogate in the Classic). In addition to Arrogate, trainer Bob Baffert also saddled sprint winner Drefong.

Saturday’s suggested Double/Early Pick 3 tickets from Santa Anita Park yielded one Primary winner (Kitten’s Cat) and two Secondary winners (California Diamond, Fair Point). The winning $2 Daily Double (races 1-2) returned $18.40 and the $1 Early Pick 3 (races 1-3) paid $64.50.
