O'Connor, a graded-stakes winner in two of his last three starts, will miss Saturday's Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap after spiking a fever.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. confirmed an X post by Mike Welsch of Daily Racing Form, which said the 7-year-old son of Boboman developed the fever on his flight to California. Joseph told Welsch that the flight was delayed 10 hours.
O'Connor was fifth in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), his most recent start. Before that, he won the Harlan's Holiday. (G3) in December and the Fayette (G2) in October.
After starting his racing career in Chile, O'Connor won his first start for Joseph in 2022. His record with Joseph is 10: 3-2-1.
