The Grade 3 Autumn Miss Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on turf on closing day Sunday at Santa Anita includes the top three finishers from last month’s John C. Harris (G3). They will be stretching in distance after being separated by less than one length when sprinting about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course.

Innovative got the win that day rallying from mid-pack under Ricky González to win by a neck over Lee’s Baby Girl. Warming finished third by three-quarters of a length. Innovative, a Complexity filly, was making her stakes debut for trainer Phil D’Amato. In her previous start Innovative won a first-level allowance going one mile on turf at Del Mar.

Lee’s Baby Girl was a tough-luck loser at 26-1 in the Harris. The daughter of Malibu Moon trained by Carla Gaines led the entire way under Mirco Demuro before getting nailed at the wire by Innovative. She is 0-for-6 with three runner-up efforts going a flat mile on turf.

Warming was making her first start in California after coming west for Motion in the Harris. The daughter of Global Campaign was fifth in both the Belmont Oaks (G1) and Lake Placid (G2) this summer at Saratoga.

The Autumn Miss is scheduled to start at 7:36 p.m. EDT.
