Sam Houston sets 2019 Ladies Classic, other race dates

Sam Houston Race Park has announced its upcoming live racing calendar for Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse meets in 2019, marking the beginning of a 25th anniversary season.  Horse racing returns on Friday, Jan. 25, with the start of the 2019 Thoroughbred Meet which consists of 32 live racing days.

Live racing will be held every Friday and Saturday night with a first post time of 7:00 p.m. CT. The Thoroughbred meet will also consist of eight Wednesday race days (with a first post-time of noon CT) beginning on Feb. 6 and three Tuesday race days (first post time noon CT) beginning March 12 (time 12:00pm).

The Houston Racing Festival, featuring the Houston Ladies Classic (G3) and the John B. Connally Turf Cup (G3), will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, with a first post-time of 1:00 p.m. CT. Texas Champions Dayreturns to a one-day event on Saturday, March 23rd.

After the conclusion of the Thoroughbred Meet on March 30, the American Quarter Horse Meet will begin on Friday, April 12, consisting of 20 live racing days. Sam Houston Race Park will be hosting afternoon live racing on Kentucky Derby Day and Preakness Stakes Day.
